Rhonda Schock, AKA Miss Rhonda, founded Great Beginnings Childcare & Preschool, The Great Outdoors ( a nature immersed, play based preschool experience) and Great Enrichment’s ( a full bodied after school program) with the belief that play is the foundation on the road to the house of higher education.
Rhonda’s personal journey with children began in 1975 – at the tender age of 11 – when she acquired her first paying summer babysitting job.
And the seed was planted.
Throughout her youth Rhonda pursued a variety of educational experiences involving young children.
- 1982 – Along with her high school diploma, she also attained her CNA degree, the first high school class in Oregon to accomplish this.
- 1997 – Rhonda earned her CDA credentials, another first graduating class in the state.
- 2007 – She completed certifications for Project Wet & Project Wild as an outdoor education instructor.
- 2014 – Rhonda achieved QRIS 3 Star attainment, followed by 4 Star in 2015 and finally 5 Star in 2016.
- 2016 – Working diligently throughout 2016/2017, Rhonda gained her Master Trainer Credential.
- 2017 – Rhonda became Nationally certified as a Strengthening Families Trainer, as well as completing training as a Quality Improvement Specialist from Western Oregon University.
Rhonda is currently engaging in the Lead, Learn, Excel Program as well as continually attending new classes to further her own understanding of children and the way they grow & learn.
Rhonda has been actively involved in all aspects for child care: home care, center care, public school, after school and private care, as well as a community organizer of many children’s events.
Miss Rhonda believes in supporting all children with respect to abilities, race, religion, orientation and family culture.
All trainings are developed to coincide with Oregon state requirements.
We recognize that play based learning is vital, and that current knowledge of human development is constantly updated based on the use of observations, assessments and current best practices.
Our trainings place high emphasis on providing the most comprehensive offerings for childcare professionals.
We focus on the mandatory, and we also offer trainings that focus on the development of the healthy, whole child. We believe this is fundamental to the building of trainings vital to assisting childcare professionals in becoming the best possible caregivers to the children of their communities.
We embrace the belief that when children are engaged in PLAY, that they are learning.
